We will be joining in the World Book Day celebrations on Thursday 6th March. We have lots of activities planned in school. The theme this year is “Reading for Pleasure”, so we want children to make their own choices about what they like to read and have time to share those in school. This year, instead of you dressing up as your favourite character from a book, we would like you to take a potato and create your favourite book character using it! We will share some ideas with you below. We will be looking for the best dressed potato in school! There will be a £10 book voucher for the winner in each year group. We can’t wait to see your creations!
We would also like all children to bring in their favourite book to share with their friends and teachers. We will be sharing these books throughout the day. We will also be taking part in “Drop Everything and Read”: a time when everyone in school will be expected to stop what they are doing and read at points throughout the day. This is to show that reading can be done at any time, anywhere and by anyone!
Please access the World Book Day website https://www.worldbookday.com for ideas and activities to share at home. Remember to use your book token which will be given out on the day to get your free book!
Thanks for your support,
Mrs Ridley (Reading for Pleasure Lead)
